Copper Cable and Wire Scrap in Pune: How Cable Is Valued
Power cords, data cable, structured cabling and mixed wire - valued on metal content and how clean the separation is.
What gives cable its value
Cable scrap is a metal recovery business, not an electronics one. Value comes from the copper inside, and it varies enormously: heavy single-core copper, flexible multi-strand, thin data cable and heavily insulated mains lead all carry different proportions of metal against plastic and filler. That is why cable is priced on the actual material rather than a flat rate per kilo.
What is accepted
- Power cords and mains leads
- Data cable - Cat5/6, HDMI, USB, display cable
- Structured and network cabling from office refits
- Mixed wire and offcuts
- Connectors and plugs with the cable attached
Do not burn the insulation
Burning cable to expose the copper releases dioxins and is illegal in most places, including across India. Bring cable as it is; separation is a processing step, not something to do in a yard.
Cable from a refit
When an office floor is stripped out, cable is often the largest volume in the load and the easiest to overlook. It sells alongside networking equipment and components.
Booking
Call or WhatsApp 93590 29457 with an estimate of volume and type. For large refit quantities we will confirm scale and logistics before the visit.
Why cable is the easiest thing to undervalue
Cable looks like rubbish, weighs a lot and takes up space. In a stripped office it is often the single largest volume in the clearance and worth more than the equipment people thought was valuable. It is also the item most likely to be put in a skip.
How the value varies
Heavy single-core copper, flexible multi-strand, thin data cable and heavily insulated mains lead all carry different proportions of metal against plastic and filler. That is why cable is priced on the actual material and how cleanly it separates rather than a single rate per kilo.
Preparing it
- Keep cable in a separate container from other equipment - it is processed differently.
- Do not strip insulation by hand beyond what is safe; separation is a processing step.
- Connectors and plugs can stay attached; they are removed during processing.
- Never burn insulation off.
Where cable comes from
Office refits, datacentre decommissions, appliance disposal and general household clear-outs. The refit case is the one with real volume, and it usually arrives alongside networking equipment.
Collection
Cable is collected with the rest of a mixed load at no extra charge. See doorstep collection.
Frequently asked questions
Do you take cables with the plugs still on?
Yes. Plugs and connectors reduce the yield slightly but are separated during processing.
How is cable value calculated?
On the recoverable metal, which depends on cable type, conductor gauge and copper content. Mixed and heavily insulated cable yields less than clean heavy copper.
Do you take HDMI, USB and power cords?
Yes, all are accepted and can be collected together.
Can I burn the insulation off first?
No. Burning cable insulation releases toxic fumes and is illegal in most jurisdictions. Bring it as it is.
